Thompson Twins
The Thompson Twins were a British pop band of the 1980s that had a tremendous influence on popular culture. They were formed in 1977 by Tom Bailey and Alannah Currie, and quickly gained success by bookings for hire occasions like weddings and events prior to their release of their first self-titled album in 1981. Throughout the span of their career they released an impressive eight albums, all containing hit singles that topped charts across the world. Who can forget classics such as “Hold Me Now,” “Doctor! Doctor!,” and “Love On Your Side,” just to name a few? The twins toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe from 1982-1993 until finally disbanding at the close of 1993. Since then, various contemporary artistes have paid homage to The Thompson Twins, covering some of their incredibly successful music. Kesha, Pixie Lott, Go West and Clean Bandit are just a few noteworthy names who have given credit where credit is due. Truly, The Thompson Twins made a lasting mark on mainstream music with their unique sound and infectious beats.
